Oak Hill Hospital Announces Its Associate of the Year

Spring Hill, Florida (January 11, 2010) – Oak Hill Hospital has announced its Star Associate of the Year for 2009. Each month hospital Associates are chosen in a process that involves nominations and voting by their peers, patients, patient families, and physicians. At the end of the year, one of the Stars is chosen as the Star Associate of the Year.

This year’s Associate of the Year is Nyoka Castro, RN.  Ms. Castro joined Oak Hill Hospital in 2001 and currently serves as charge nurse in telemetry. She has two sons, Pauly and Robert, and a daughter, Danee. Nyoka lives in Spring Hill. Nyoka’s multiple nominations came from patients. One particular nomination came from a patient who owned a recruiting firm and understood the value of certain qualities in employees. He particularly extolled Nyoka’s great attitude in addition to her technical and leadership skills, “skills and characteristics which are rare in today’s world.” This particular patient’s nomination devoted a great deal of time to Nyoka’s caring and understanding and her ability to make a patient feel secure in her hands. Nyoka particularly enjoys the teamwork and support she receives from her coworkers.
